One of the most difficult things about living in Edmonton is the difficulty in getting fresh seafood. I’m sure all seafood restaurants and seafood lovers can agree upon this. Luckily, The Keg offers a whole lobster summer menu from now until September 2nd. These atlantic lobsters are sourced from Clear Water in Nova Scotia, and are shipped in twice a week to all Keg locations. They come in live and not frozen to ensure maximum freshness.
Disclaimer: I was invited to come in and try the new menu items along with some other influencers. Our meal was paid for, but all opinions are my own.
If I’m ever at the Keg, you bet I’d be sipping on a pitcher of red sangria. It’s been my favourite ever since I used to work there 2 years ago, and is still my favourite now. This is hands down the best sangria I’ve ever had, and I’ve been to many places for it.
The aperol spritz is a great option if you want something light and less sweet.
A must have at The Keg — baked brie with pesto, red pepper jelly, and crostini. I’ve raved about this dish many many times and get all my friends to love it as much as I do!
Cheesy and buttery lobster gratinee. There’s approximately 6 chunks of lobster sautéed in garlic, butter, herbs, and loaded with melted cheese.
The steak & half lobster option seemed the most best of both worlds deal. Hungry me added an additional half lobster (+$24) and the seafood medley (+15). I was not expecting my portion to be THIS big! It was almost more than enough to feed two people. I enjoyed how easy it was to get the meat out of the shell without making a huge mess and getting food all over myself (like the usual). The seafood medley contained shrimp, lobster, and scallops in a lobster velouté sauce — similar to what you would get in their sirloin oscar. Very delicious, I may add.
Finishing off with the billy miner pie. A lot of people noted how they always see this dessert on my Instagram. I just LOVE it. I might’ve even tried running a dictatorship at the table and got everyone to order this as well hehe. If you love coffee and not overly sweet desserts, trust me — you’d love this! It’s big enough to share between two people but can be easily eaten by one person. Caution: highly addictive.
Overall, this was one of the best dining experience I’ve ever had, and from the Keg nonetheless. Thank you Head Quarters for the invite! Though this wouldn’t be my “go-to” restaurant due to the high prices, it’s still worth a try on special occasions.
